The mesh trim surrounding the A/C vents, the silvery knobs, and the standard 7.0-inch touchscreen are all Honda bits.

The screen is a wide nine inches.

The Integra marks a return to form for Acuras compact car after the underwhelming ILX sedan. The shifter is snickety-snick. The front row has good room in all dimensions for larger or smaller drivers.

By mixing and matching some of the better components in its parts bins,Acurahas re-created its epic, entry-luxury Integra that was a pillar of the brands identity in the late 1980s, throughout the 1990s, and into the early years of this century. 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec - Interior, Infotainment, and Features

Its now fun to drive, and reasonably quick, and more spacious. The other choice is a CVT with seven simulated gear ratios. The rigid Civic underpinnings make the Integra a fun car to fling around. There are three trims.

Bumps are not an issue.

The Integra earns an EPA Estimated Combined rating of 33 MPG with its automatic transmission and 30 with the manual.

Rejoice, for the Integra has a touchscreen rather than Acuras somewhat frustrating trackpad infotainment interface. Chevrolet has now set a date for the reveal of the new Blazer EV. The A-Spec bits include a 6-speed manual with a front limited-slip differential as a no-cost alternative to the CVT, and a sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers.

Unfortunately, Acura recommends Premium fuel. When it first introduced the Integra, Acura was the only luxury automaker focusing on entry-luxury performance, providing a pathway for younger buyers looking to upgrade from a mainstream brand product without breaking the bank. The new Integra starts at a surprisingly-low $32K. In Marysville, Ohio, alongside the Acura TLX. Unlike the redesigned Civic, the Integra comes with adaptive dampers on the A-Spec with Technology Package grade. Acura wont quote a 0-60 mph time, but its likely in the mid-6-second range. The Integras split-folding 60/40 rear seat and liftgate provide 24.3 cubic feet of crossover-esque cargo flexibility without the tall, blocky SUV-like girth.

Thank you!

It offers exceptional clarity and a powerful bass punch. The 2023 Acura Integra is one of the brands least expensive offerings, but its rich in driving character, technology, and everyday usability. I drove both automatic- and manual-transmission Integras equipped with the A-Spec Sport Appearance and Technology packages for this review.

Now a five-door hatchback, it adopts current Acura styling cues while also incorporating some nods to its past.

Here it produces 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque, paired to either a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission.

It earns a TCC Rating of 6.8 out of 10 (Read more about how we rate cars.). Please check your email for confirmation. Its modestly quick.

Acuras touchpad infotainment interface isnt welcome here, as a touchscreen is used instead.

Or even at a price range about $10K higher we can name. Compare the 2023 Acura Integra against the competition.

Tesla Model 3 RWD vs. 2023 Acura Integra - Which Is More Affordable?

The2023 Acura Integrais built on Hondas Global Small Car architecture, which means itsCivic-based with theSi1.5-literturbochargedengine and 6-speed manualtransmissionas well as the continuously variable transmission (CVT) from theCivic Hatchback.

For now, before the hopeful addition of a Type S variant, the Integra uses the same 1.5-liter turbo-4 that powers the Civic Si. The car matches downshift revs for you, but you can still heel-toe the car if you want to.

The interior is properly premium for a vehicle at this price point, as well, although there are still obvious tinges of the Civic remaining. The Integras console-mounted Dynamic Mode selector isnt oversized as in the TLX either.

I also spent the better part of an hour piloting a CVT version, which was nearly as fun as the manual one, offering crisp response and a step-shift-like feel at wider throttle openings. Acura offers no options but does have a full range of dealer-installed accessories for the Integra. The shifter has short, precise gates, buttery-smooth action, and subtle spring-loading to guide you to the next cog. Acura tunes the 200-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder for a broad torque band from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm and perky midrange response in the Integra.

The large, crisp display is decently configurable, projects clear readouts, and even displays unique graphics depending on the drive mode. 2023 Acura Integra - What Makes It Special? Eddie Moneys Take Me Home Tonight was a top song that year, and it was the perfect theme song for the Integra. 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec - Whats Missing?

Powers.

At 37.4 inches, it is 2.5 inches more than in the considerably larger TLX sedan. The Integra ranges up to $36,895 for the A-Spec with Technology Package model, which marks the only way to get the manual transmission and adaptive dampers. The adaptive dampers smooth out bumps, even in their Sport setting while contributing to the cars agility. Also standard is a multi-angle reversing camera, a seat belt reminder for all five seating positions, automatic high-beam headlights,blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning.

Standard features include 17-inch wheels, a sunroof, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power driver seat, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Pairing my Samsung Android phone was quick and easy.

The result is more console storage space forward of the shifter. The transmission slurs during its stepped gear changes when pushed, though a Sport mode for the transmission makes the slurs seem three drinks in rather than five. It shares many mechanicals with the Honda Civic Si, but rivals range from the Volkswagen GTI to the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe.

Not only that, but the Integra is also one of the most beloved cars of the late 80s and early 90s, with a reputation for reliable and attainable performance, almost always featuring a high-strung four-cylinder engine and a slick manual shifter.

The technology features consist of a 9.0-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in Amazon Alexa commands, a head-up display, and an ELS Studio audio system with 16 speakers and 530 watts of power.

Competitors with comparable options all cost over $40,000.

The base screen is small and even the 9.0-inch screen feels like its on the small side these days. What kind of vehicle is the 2023 Acura Integra? The new Integra seems like the perfect formula for young first-time premium vehicle buyers as well as anyone looking for a roomy midsized five-door car.

It has sharp steering and a ride that is a bit stiffer than a mainstream car its size would.

Re-Publication. Max twist persists all the way to 5,000 RPM, with horsepower peaking at 6,000 and it's in the upper limits where this car feels most at home.

The throttle is quick and direct, helping the engine deliver all 192 lb-ft at a moment's notice. The Integras variable-ratio steering is quicker at low speeds for easier around-town maneuverability and firms up for good stability at higher velocities. Built-in rev-matching, which you can turn off if youd like to demonstrate your expertise with the heel-and-toe clutch pedal technique, helps make the rest of us drivers smoother during shift transitions.

Here's where Acura really has a leg up on the competition: price. Ford Escape Active Spied Revealing Uncamouflaged Body, 2023 Honda Civic Type R Debuts As Most Powerful Model Ever For US Market, Ford Could Cut 8,000 Jobs By The End Of Summer: Report.

I understand that I can unsubscribe at any time. Max torque kicks in at a generous 1,800 RPM, which gives the Integra more verve off the line than some of its staid alternatives. Acura gets the balance between ride quality and agility right. One of the most important ways the Integra needed to be better than its mainstream peers (Mazda3, WRX, Civic) is the perceived quality of the interior. Unlike its major German competitors in the premium compact segment, the Integra includesadvanced driving assistance systemsas standard with all trims.

The rear seats fold down, too, making the Integra a viable alternative to a crossover.

We would also like AWD to be an option, but we respect that Acura has a long list of great AWD vehicles from which to choose at higher price points.

2023 Acura Integra A-Spec - What Powers It?

2022 J.D.

By keeping the drive mode selector in Sport and the digital tach above 4,000, the Integra delivers all the grunt you want and need. The car has a sedan//hatchback style that is all the rage today.

How much is a fully loaded Acura Integra?

The Integras cabin benefits from comfortable front seats and a spacious rear cargo area, but the rear seat is compromised despite plenty of leg room.

2023 Acura Integra A-Spec - How Does It Drive?

Today, many buyers opt for a small crossover as a first vehicle, be it mainstream or premium.

Acura used two-material seats featuring microfiber suede surfaces to pull the Integras luxury level up a notch. The Integra is fun in the same fashion as the original, with a responsive 4-cylinder engine, snickable stick-shift transmission, tight and light chassis, and, oh yeah, a big rear hatch and fold-down rear seat for those things people think they need a crossover SUV for today.

This time, it's with the debut of the all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R, the fastest and most powerful model ever to wear the automaker's shiny "H" logo in the U.S. market. The rear seat is roomy enough for two adults on long trips or three on short drives. This entails the entireAcuraWatchsuite with standard adaptive cruise control,lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, road-departure mitigation, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and forwardautomatic emergency braking.

There is a full-feature head-up display.

Hop behind the wheel, and 20 years of bigger-is-better SUV mentality goes out the window. In the basement of a downtown Austin restaurant is where I get my first real look at the Integra and its way more handsome in person. Those who dont will get the company's constantly variable automatic transmission.

But Acura engineers tweaked the chassis just enough to make it feel for lack of a better phrase like an Acura. Dubbed a liftback, the five-door hatchback is shaped like a sedan with a distinctive rounded end, like a smaller take on the Kia Stinger and any number of cars from Audi.

By keeping the drive mode selector in Sport and the digital tach above 4,000, the Integra delivers all the grunt you want and need.

As manual 6-speed gearboxes go, the Integras is right up there with the best.

No, the design isn't retro or even all that unique apart from the embossed Integra wordmark on the bumpers, a nod to the third-gen model.

The downside is that there is some rev hang, an unfortunate carryover from the Civic Si. The look is subdued in Ebony, but Graystone, Orchid, and especially Red add contrast and visual vibrancy.

There is a perfect phone slot with wireless charging.

That makes it the company's most popular vehicle of all time by a long shot.

Opting for the CVT also gives you a low-speed adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist.

Nearly 25 years after the first Civic Type R rolled off an assembly line in Suzuka, Japan, Honda is making history again.

Acceleration is interesting.

The Integra also boasts a class-besting 37.4 inches of legroom in the second row, and beyond the roofline nearly tickling the top of my noggin, it makes for a genuinely comfy place to sit. Acura offers the Integra in base, A-Spec, and A-Spec with Technology Package models.

He has penned hundreds of road tests for automotive and consumer websites, enthusiast magazines, newsletters, technical journals, and newspapers.

No, the new Integra is a front-wheel-drive car only. It is the best in the segment by a country mile. The Integra brings many pluses, with its price point being key. But it's the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, standard on all trims, that really puts the Integra over the top in terms of tech. The Integra is built in Americas Heartland in Ohio, primarily from parts also built in America. Power, Ron Sessions, Independent Expert | May 26, 2022.

The Performance Red hue on this A-Spec model looks much better than the yellow launch model with those silly side-profile graphics, which even Acura admits was a bit over-the-top. The front end is busy with creases and cuts, and the running lights sport a distinct kink in the corners that Acura calls Chicane. The grille flows outward into the LED headlights before wrapping around the body to the short deck lid and LED taillights.

Even though Acura still uses similar three-letter naming conventions across the lineup (TLX, RDX, MDX, NSX), the Integra stands on its own historic name.

But it wont be an Acura, and it wont have the refinement and features that the Integra offers.

2022 MH Sub I, LLC.

I saw an indicated 28.7-mpg average fuel-economy reading in the stick-shift Integras 10.2-inch driver display over 110 miles of driving that included a good 20-30 minutes of idling while taking photos. Can you find a car with similar performance for a few bucks less? 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Review: Whats In A Name?

In that sense, the Integra makes a lot of sense. Thats consistent with EPA estimates of 26 mpg city/36 mpg highway/30 mpg combined for the manual transmission version.

The latter is the only way to get the Integra with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Expect the first examples to show up this June.

Against a comparable BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, the Integra feels like the more premium of the two. Acura does offer a standard continuously variable transmission for those less inclined to do it yourself, and frankly, it's not that bad.

The interior merges Acuras stylish layered dash and snazzy 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster with aluminum mesh vents that work so well in the Civic, underscored by climate control dials.

It helps thatHondaand Acura have such good parts to choose from to construct the new Integra, the bones of which it shares with the Si version of the North American Car of the Year Honda Civic. The plusher ride, though, does result in slightly softer handling; the Civic just feels more tactile in a tight turn. On the A-Spec model specifically, the Integra's ratio is faster than Civic 11.52:1 compared to 11.46:1. 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec - Where Is It Built?

So long as you leave your lofty expectations at the door, the new Integra makes for a compelling vehicle beyond its name.

Front-wheel drive is the only drivetrain option.

Even though it houses a radar sensor for the standardadaptive cruise control, it avoids the clunky-looking clear plastic cover over the Acura emblem, as seen in the current TLX.

The rigid Civic underpinnings make the Integra a fun car to fling around especially in the Texas Hill Country where this test took place. More than a few car companies have dusted off old monikers for new entries to stir up interest, but in the metrics that count, Acura has nailed the basics in this 2023 redux. The 235/40R18 tires have only decent grip in spirited cornering, and the brakes are too small for long periods of canyon carving or track driving. If you want to rediscover long-lost abilities for your left leg and right arm, a 6-speed stick-shift Integra wants to have a conversation with you.

A helical limited-slip front differential included with manual-transmission versions helps keep one front tire from spinning during heavier throttle applications without the buzzkill of traction control intervening in a heavy-handed way.

Lets hope we get the Type S as well. The original Integra was a smash hit and expanded Honda/Acuras footprint in America considerably. The A-Spec adds 4-way lumbar adjustments for better back support, and basic 4-way power passenger seat adjustments. Keeping the Integra attainable is important. Between 1986 and 2006, Acura sold more than a million examples of the Integra (and RSX) in North America.

John's interest in EVs goes back to 1990 when he designed the thermal control system for an EV battery as part of an academic team.

After earning his mechanical engineering degree, John completed a marketing program at Northeastern University and worked with automotive component manufacturers, in the semiconductor industry, and in biotech. First launched in 1986, the Integra phased into the RSX for the 2002 model year, before the RSX was shelved in 2006.

The $33,895 A-Spec model adds 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights, and an A-Spec Appearance Package with matte and gloss-black exterior trim, including a rear spoiler, and stainless steel pedals and contrast stitching inside.

The engine has more than enough horsepower and torque to overwhelm the front tires turning into traffic from a stop sign, so a bigger engine would not be of practical use.

In the meantime, it comes with lots of safety features.

Most importantly, the Integra borrows all of the best performance bits from the very good Civic Si, while Acura sprinkles in exclusive touches like extra tech and an adaptive suspension.

But the positioning and performance of this car make it really enticing: You get an iconic nameplate, all the elements that make the sporty Si so likable, and more refinement all for around $30,000 or $35,000 with all the options equipped. Despite its small displacement, the engine is very flexible, even when unexpectedly caught in a higher gear at lower speeds. The opinions expressed in this review are the authors own, not J.D. Its the only car in its premium small-car class with three pedals. Chevy will reveal the electric SUV on July 18 with an expected on-sale date of Spring 2023. Compared to the CVT in the Honda Civic, the Integra version has a shorter final-drive ratio for quicker acceleration. Included with A-Spec/Technology package-equipped Integras are adaptive dampers that continuously adjust to road inputs, taking the edge off larger road impacts and firming up for good control when making time.
