12/02/2021 - UPDATE 09/07/2021 - We were informed by Stark Excavating, Inc that IDOT has closed Funks Grove Rd, which is also CH 36 or 550 North Rd, to through traffic through Tuesday, 11/30th, Friday, 12/17th, until further notice, to facilitate construction on the I-55 bridges that span over the highway. The Village will replace water mains in several locations including Springfield Avenue (Church Street to Emerson Street), Kimball Avenue (Greenleaf Street to Dempster Street), Lawndale Avenue (Cleveland Street to Main Street), Central Park Avenue (Cleveland Street to Main Street), Kimball Avenue (Cleveland Street to Main Street) and Fairview Lane (Laramie Avenue to Lavergne Avenue). This will create a one-lane road each way for this section of 159th Street. Replacing two aging bridges and adding turn lanes will make the highway safer.

The IDOT project is scheduled to be bid in April - May 2022, with construction starting 4-6 weeks later. Construction operations will be performed under live traffic using flaggers when construction activities are active. During the resurfacing project, two previously oiled alleys will be paved with asphalt. This project will restore pavement between Cold Springs and Glenns Ferry.
The Village also has an annual sewer cleaning program which improves sewer flow and identifies future needs. Please note that there will be daily lane closures and flaggers in the construction zone during this work, so please slow down and drive with caution through this construction area.

The existing turning movement is difficult for commercial vehicles to navigate. The Village replaced water mains in several locations including Kilbourn Avenue (Greenwood Street to Grove Street), Ridgeway Avenue (Oakton Street to Cleveland Street), Ridgeway Avenue (Chase Street to Jarvis Street), Coyle Street (Laramie Avenue to Lavergne Avenue), and Harvard Terrace (Frontage Road to Long Avenue).

The project is proposing to remove approximately 435 feet of existing roadway and replace it with bridge approach slab and land bridge pavement. This work will also include the installation of 2 dry wells at the intersection of Hughes/ Hartland Road and US 14 located in the City of Woodstock in McHenry County.
