ROBBE: I always throw all of these types of shoes into the if it aint broke, dont fix it category. If youre here, youre probably looking for a shoe that gets the job done. The areas I can mark it down for are all related to its sole: its outsole rubber wears down too quickly, its slippery on wet surfaces and its too soft for long runs. It seems a little lacking in forefoot protection, but giving it an extra 3-5mm of stack height is only going to make it heavier and even less inspiring.

Its been a while since Asics took the top gong in one of our Shoe Buyers Guides but the reaction to this shoe was uniformly one of delight and this won Best In Test in our current Spring/Summer 21 Guide. My feet roll out just walking. But the more Ive run in this, the more I can say that Ill definitely pull it out when my legs are feeling beat or want a break. This can be good, and this can be bad. It is a very smooth ride for a neutral midfoot or heel striking runner. I recently reviewed the Vomero 15 and I was disappointed with it because of its firm forefoot which didnt feel like a max-cushioned trainer. All in all an excellent every day running go to shoe that can be used for training and longer races.
