The road to Tofino is ok if you can dodge the summer-Germans-in-camper-vans thing, but there isnt a lot of Canadian motorcycle season on either side of it and the road itself is either under construction or should be.

This is a groomed, dirt trail which can get a bit muddy and will have some horse manure, but its worth the minor challenges. Theres so much fantastic riding in NS that its hard to squander a weekend looking for new stuff.

Every year, I try to add a new piece of NS to my riding inventory, though, and maybe this will be the year I better explore the interior of the south shore area. #8, 10, 12, 14 are not compelling to my recollection. The road curves in between the mountain and river till it reaches Fortress Gas Plus. It is a fairly easy hike on the Cirque Trail to get above the tree line and that allows for some very nice and unimpeded views up and down the valley. Twenty minutes after the gas station, one passes, almost un-knowingly through the Highwood Pass as the pass itself is not marked with any signs.Another hours worth of fairly straight riding through Equestrian country gets one to Longview with further 90 minutes ride to Calgary and rest.As far as motorcycle rides go, the portion between Highway 1 and Fortress Gas Station is nice.
