I did use an a5 merc for awhile. Rock insight because it's so damn cheap and provides infinite mana. A1 is not quite useful in PvM, the only use for her I got is giving her Harmony for a lvl10 vigor. try a delfience aura one.. hes really good with the + defence that the sorc lacks. During leveling, our aim is to maximize damage output for quick progression, have decent survivability so you wont die frequently, and have decent movement speed.
